Pradaxa Side Effects
Pradaxa, a commonly prescribed anticoagulant used to prevent strokes and blood clots, has been linked to a number of very serious side effects. A recent study found that Pradaxa patients face a 33% higher risk of developing symptoms of heart disease or suffering heart attacks than patients who take warfarin. Heart problems aren’t the only reported Pradaxa side effects. Dabigatran users have also been known to suffer joint pain and swelling, nausea, weakness, and dizziness in addition to severe internal bleeding.
In a Drug Safety Communication issued in December 2011, the FDA announced that it had launched an investigation into numerous reports of Pradaxa internal bleeding, including brain, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, and retinal hemorrhaging. More than 260 Pradaxa-related deaths have been reported worldwide since the drug was introduced in 2010, and the majority of these deaths were attributed to internal bleeding caused by Pradaxa.
Boehringer Ingelheim, the maker of Pradaxa, has been the subject of a number of dangerous drug lawsuits claiming death or injury caused by Pradaxa. - Medical expenses
- Pharmaceutical costs
- Pain, suffering and mental anguish
